Homesteading for our family has had many advantages. It has helped with homeschooling our children, (At home 4-h) It has taught our family new skills, it has helped with saving money on groceries, and it is one of the more peaceful ways of life. You also walk away with a sense of purpose when you homestead. You find out quickly that you are responsible for keeping your animals and garden alive! It takes hard work and a lot of patience, but it is worth it. We homesteaded for about 3 years. We are currently in transition (do to job change) however we look forward to returning to the land and building our homestead once again.
